Eileen Susan Walsh, 67, died on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at home in Portland. She was born the middle child in a family of 7 siblings to Tom and Dolores Walsh on January 14, 1956, in Roseburg, OR. She attended Catholic grade school in Roseburg and then Jr. High and High school in Salem where the family had moved.
Eileen was seriously injured in a motorcycle/automobile accident in 1973 when she was 17 and spent many years in physical rehabilitation. Through all these years, she maintained her upbeat and competitive outlook on life! The family moved to Portland to give Eileen more opportunities for social exposure and employment. For decades she participated in workshops managed by UCP, CCI & Edwards Center, where she enjoyed activities and making friends.
Eileen, was always happy to meet people. We’d like to thank Eileen’s doctors, staff of Eldercare in Milwaukie and Brookstone in Salem for the loving care they showed Eileen. Many thanks to the caregivers, therapists, nieces/nephews, loving neighbors, and friends that helped from our home and beach house in Lincoln City. They provided friendship, entertainment, muscle and guidance to Eileen and helped her enjoy swimming, thumb-wrestling, whale watching, movies, snacking and dominoes!
She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Dolores, her brother James, her brother Bill and her niece, Molly Walsh Mason. Eileen leaves behind her sisters, Nancy Walsh and Jeanne Masser, and brothers Tom (Sue) Walsh and John (Stephanie) Walsh. In addition, Eileen loved and enjoyed watching 11 nieces/nephews and 15 great nieces/nephews grow up and thrive!
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Edwards Center, PO Box 6269, Beaverton, OR 97007.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Pringle Hall, 606 Church St. SE, Salem, OR from Noon-3pm. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
